Micro Weddings at Poundon House

Micro weddings with social distancing are fabulous as we discovered on Saturday when we hosted our first micro wedding within social distancing guidelines for Nisha and Neel.

Who says its only big weddings that are the most fun….er, no one, and that’s because micro weddings are filled with just as much excitement, happiness and love too!

Nisha and Neel were planning to have a large wedding, with guests flying in from abroad and multi faith ceremonies. But Covid put a stop to that. Even with Nisha’s work with the NHS on the Covid ward during the peak of lockdown, her positivity and optimism was admirable as we discussed ideas on how her and Neel could still marry were things to change by end of August. There were times when we weren’t sure if ANY wedding could go ahead. And times when we were optimistic that perhaps the guidelines may allow for more than the 30 guests and she could host a small wedding. But which ever way it went, they knew they wanted to marry this summer here at Poundon House. So we were thrilled when wedding receptions were back on for a maximum of 30 guests only, and the day came closer and the reality set in that they were going to be married, and we were going to make it work within the guidelines!

Above all, we all wanted to make sure that the micro wedding was conducted within the guidelines as set out by Government. We had lots of discussions with the Registrars, following government guidance for the reception, (HERE) and clear communication with our couple and their suppliers so that everyone was clear on their responsibility.

In the words of Sian, their wedding planner ‘If you are nervous about your wedding day being dramatically reduced in numbers don’t be. It was Absolutely incredible. It was the most intimate, fantastic close wedding I have ever experienced and it was sheer pleasure from the moment we started to the moment we finished. We enjoyed seeing the love the togetherness the banter between only 28 people that felt larger than any wedding in size.’

intimate small weddings are just as meaningful, just as filled with love and happiness, and just as memorable as a wedding with 100 guests. So if you want to be married and celebrate with your loved ones, don’t let the fact that you can only have 30 guests be the reason that holds you back.

For intimate small weddings we have a different pricing structure. The cost is from £4k (this does not include bedrooms) and is for exclusive use of the house, grounds and marquee for a full day finishing by 8pm (extension can be arranged).
